Grants available for Southampton youths
Southampton Town’s Youth Bureau will offer grants of up to $250 each to local youth groups for community service work within the town.
The grants are available to organized adult-run youth groups such as the Girl Scouts or Boy Scouts and school- or faith-based organizations. The youths' projects must benefit their communities and be completed by Aug. 31.
The young people who participate must be an “integral part of the project,” according to the news release, from its conception to implementation.
The grants will total $2,000.
“This is a program inspired by the national challenge to participate in community service — a commitment that I’ve seen unify young people in a positive way and inspire them to continue working to serve the public,” Supervisor Anna Throne-Holst said in a statement.
Applications are available at the Town of Southampton website or by calling 631-702-2425.
