A group of concerned residents is rallying against the Montauk Stabilization Project.

The Army Corp of Engineers is burying 14,000 sand bags along about 3,000 feet of the downtown Montauk shoreline. They are also carving out the dunes to make way for a boardwalk. The project got underway Wednesday.

Some residents say the project is ruining the beach and changing its natural structure. They are also worried about the impact the project could have on tourism.

A town board meeting is being held tonight at 6:30 p.m., where the group held its rally.
