North Hempstead Town and the Great Neck Arts Center have announced the 2013 Furman Film Series, a round of screenings followed by discussions with filmmakers.

The center recently partnered with the Town of North Hempstead, and the series is marketed as a lead-in to the group’s marquis event, the Gold Coast International Film Festival, which is held in October.

In May, the town board approved an additional $150,000 for the center, amending a pact for the town to acquire it, bringing more arts programming.

The events include a July 11 screening of “Between Us,” starring Julia Stiles and Taye Diggs and followed by a talk with producer Mike S. Ryan; on July 25, “In God We Trust” will be shown, followed by a talk with co-directors Victor Kubicek and Derek Anderson; Aug. 1 will feature an evening of award-winning shorts, followed by a session with short-film curator Alexandra Gil; Aug. 8 will be a showing of “Shun Li and the Poet;” Aug. 22 will feature “Haute Cuisine.”

Tickets can be purchased by calling 516-829-2570 or at goldcoastfilmfestival.org/furman.
