The search is on for a new superintendent for the Half Hollow Hills School District, and district officials are asking for the public’s help.

The district has set up an online survey for parents, teachers and other community members to offer comments on the qualities they would like to see in a new superintendent.

The search began after superintendent Sheldon Karnilow announced his retirement last month. He will be leaving the district Sept. 1. The survey can be found under “Superintendent Search” on the Half Hollow Hills website.

A public meeting for district residents about the superintendent search, with district consultant Ronald Smith of RKS Consultants, will be at 8 p.m. April 27, at the Fran Greenspan Administration Center, 525 Half Hollow Rd. in Dix Hills.
