Hamptons movie night nixed due to erosion
A fundraiser for the East Hampton Food Pantry scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday has been canceled due to the impact of Tropical Storm Irene.
Each Wednesday in August, Hamptons Drive-In has screened an outdoor movie at Indian Wells Beach in Amagansett to raise money for the food pantry. Tonight would have been the last fundraiser of the summer.
Hamptons Drive-In co-owner Zac Allentuck said Wednesday night’s showing of “Finding Nemo” was canceled because of erosion at Indian Wells Beach in the wake of the storm.
“There’s not enough beach left to do it,” he said.
The event will not be rescheduled.
Movies to be shown on Thursday at Amagansett Square and Friday at Cooper’s Beach will take place as scheduled; they are not fundraisers. Entry is free at Amagansett Square. Movies at Cooper’s Beach, which is in Southampton, cost $40 per carload or $15 per person.
