Opening weekend in the Hamptons brings several club openings, wine flights for local causes and free live music.

TASTE WINE, HELP PETS

Local wines will be poured at Southampton Center (25 Jobs Lane) 5-8 p.m. Saturday to benefit the Southampton Animal Shelter. Live music, hors d'oeuvres and patrons can mingle with animals-in-need. Tickets are $40 ($75 for two); 631-728-7387 or southamptonanimalshelter.com

FREE MUSIC

Hipsters, take note: Montauk's Surf Lodge resumes its ever-popular free music series (hint: arrive early), with buzz performers playing many weekends on a small stage perched right on the sand. The electronic spinster Big Data gets things started Saturday -- doors open at 5. Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros play at the same time Sunday (631-483- 5037, thesurflodge.com).

OUT AND ABOUT

Although most Hamptons clubs open for the season Saturday, the scene gets massive Sunday when superstar DJ A-Trak spins at Finale East Hampton, while San Francisco's Traviswild leads his popular "Animal Party" next door at Sienna Ultralounge. Both clubs share the same address (44 Three Mile Harbor Rd). Meanwhile, over in Wainscott, DJ/model Hannah Bronfman hosts fundraiser, cocktail party and late-night bash at Georgica (108 Wainscott Stone Rd.), while Jus Ske is slated to work the booth of 1 OAK Southampton, which is kicking off its inaugural season (125 Tuckahoe Lane).
