Hauppauge law firm opens office in Brentwood

Many law offices start up quietly, but a Hauppauge-based law firm is opening one in Brentwood that will be christened by the counsel general of El Salvador, Dagoberto Alcides Torres, on Sept. 15.
William Ferro, of Hauppauge-based Ferro, Kuba, Mangano, Sklyar, said about 70 percent of the firm's clients are Hispanic and it only made sense to open an office in Brentwood, which has one of the largest Hispanic populations on the Island.
Some Latinos new to this country, Ferro said, are uncomfortable speaking with lawyers. He has named Antonia LoBello, 36, a former assistant district attorney in the Bronx, to be the lead lawyer at the Brentwood office, which is to be called the 1-800 CANTASO Brentwood Law Center. Cantazo, a word usually used in the Caribbean and sometimes spelled cantaso, means "big hit." He said the office is not officially open, but already eight people have walked in to speak to a lawyer."We want to make sure to buy everything locally, all our products and supplies," Ferro said. "It can boost the community."
