Smithtown residents can bring household wastes such as antifreeze and pesticides Saturday to the town’s Municipal Services Facility.

Hazardous materials will be collected for disposal from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the facility, 85 Old Northport Rd., Kings Park.

Residents can deposit adhesives, alcohols, brake fluid, cleaning solvents, herbicides, paint remover, photography chemicals, insect sprays, pool chemicals, lighter fluid, stain, varnish and wood preservatives.

Town environmental protection director Russell K. Barnett said the number of people disposing waste at the twice-a-year events has grown since they began a few years ago. Last year, nearly 700 households deposited thousands of pounds of waste at the collections.

“Each time we’ve had it, it’s gotten bigger. It’s grown,” Barnett said.
