Cellphone ear

Can an obsession with your cellphone be an addiction? Researchers who headed a study think so. Factors such as materialism and impulsiveness might play a role in tipping cellphone use into an addiction, said James Roberts of Baylor University in Texas. "That's particularly true when we use them excessively in public," he added. The authors pointed out cellphone use among U.S. college students now hovers over 90 percent. Studies show young adults check their phones an average of 60 times per day.

The sitting pose

Women who love the feeling after a workout could be disappointed by a new study. It found women who exercise regularly spend as much time sitting as those who don't exercise. A sedentary lifestyle has been linked to various illnesses. "We spend the vast majority of our time not exercising," said Lynette Craft, an author of the study and assistant professor at Northwestern University. "It's important to think about how you spend your entire day and what you're doing in your non-exercise time."
