Hearing to weigh E. Moriches road closure
The proposed closure of a portion of Railroad Avenue in East Moriches will be the subject of a public hearing next week.
Suffolk County Legis. Jay Schneiderman (I-Montauk) announced the hearing, set for Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at the East Moriches Fire Department, 9 Pine St.
County public works officials have proposed closing the east end of Railroad Avenue, which provides access to Montauk Highway. The closure would be put in place to assist construction of a new commercial center -- just south of the Long Island Rail Road trestle -- that recently received planning board approval.
Public works officials will be at the public hearing to solicit residents' input on the suggested closure.
