Long Island residents at risk of mortgage foreclosure, as well as those going through the process, will have a chance to meet with specialists from the state Department of Financial Services, Superintendent of Financial Services Benjamin M. Lawsky has announced.

Homeowners looking for help and advice can meet with the foreclosure prevention specialists tomorrow from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the Home Depot Shopping Center at 150 Fulton Ave. in Hempstead, a news release said.

The specialists, the release said, will inform homeowners about loan modification options, and offer guidance on filing complaints through the department for cases related to lending abuses.

The event is part of a planned statewide initiative, according to the release. Specialists from the department have already visited several locations to help state residents with foreclosures.

“In this economy, many families are struggling to make ends meet,” state Sen. Kemp Hannon (R-Garden City) said in the release. “Homeowners facing foreclosure should know there is help.”
