The Hempstead Town board is scheduled to vote Tuesday on a proposed $90 million, 172-unit Harbor Isle housing development.
The developers, Blue Island Development LLC and Posillico Development Co. at Harbor Island Inc., want approval to build 140 rental apartments and 32 condos on a former oil storage and distribution site. The development, which would include boat slips, is to be called the Battery at Harbor Isles & Avalon Yacht View.
The 10.76-acre site is at Island Parkway South and Sheridan Place in Harbor Isle.
The site is part of the state’s brownfield program that seeks to clean up toxic waste. Posillico would have until Dec. 31, 2015, to complete an estimated $12 million cleanup to be eligible for tax credits.
The town board meeting is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. at 1 Washington St. in Hempstead and is open to the public.
