Elected officials from Hempstead Village and Nassau County have rescheduled the previously-postponed “Stop the Violence” rally for Saturday, their move to call for solidarity against gun violence and in favor of responsible gun ownership.

The rally, organized by village Mayor Wayne J. Hall Sr. and the board of trustees, will be held from noon to 3 p.m. in front of Hempstead Village Hall, on 99 Nichols Ct. Other elected officials, school administration officials and local clergy are expected.

The event is also intended to encourage residents to report crime and suspicious activity within their neighborhoods.

In the event of rain or inclement weather, the rally will be held in Kennedy Park’s gymnasium, on 335 Greenwich St. There will be a bus available to shuttle participants between the two locations if this occurs, officials said.

For more information, contact the mayor’s office at 516-478-6264.
