Hempstead opens cooling centers, extends pool, beach hours

With the weather set to stay in the 90s for the next several days, the Town of Hempstead announced today that it has opened 15 cooling centers and is extending operating hours at seven beaches and eight pools through Wednesday.

“During heat waves, it is important for residents to cool down and find relief from the blistering temperatures,” Murray said in a statement. “We urge those without access to air conditioning or a cool place to stay to utilize our cooling centers, pools and beaches throughout the heat wave.”

The following cooling centers are open from 9 a.m.-to 8 p.m. through Wednesday, except where noted:
