The Town of Hempstead will host its Independence celebration on Saturday with a rock concert, fireworks and a veterans salute at the Point Lookout Town Park.

The legendary Peter Noone, lead singer for the 60s British rock band Herman’s Hermits, will headline the concert at 8 p.m. Noone and his bandmates sold more than 60 million recordings with hits such as “I’m Into Something Good” and “Mrs. Brown You’ve Got a Lovely Daughter.”

The town celebration will begin at 7:30 p.m. with a tribute to several military veterans who have distinguished themselves in service to country and community. Bay Fireworks will brighten the night sky with fireworks around 9:30 p.m.

Classic and vintage automobiles from several car clubs will be on display. There will also be a food court.

The park is located at 1300 Lido Blvd. in Point Lookout. The entrance is directly across the Loop Parkway exit on Lido Boulevard.

The rain date for the concert and fireworks is Sunday. For information, call the town’s Department of Parks and Recreation at 516-292-9000 ext. 382, or visit the town’s website at www.toh.li.
