Hempstead Town will host a forum Monday night on preventing home foreclosure.

The workshop, open to all town residents, will be held at the Town of Hempstead pavilion, on 1 Washington St. in Hempstead Village, from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

The event is presented by the Office of New York State Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman and co-sponsored by town councilwoman Dorothy Goosby.

The panel features three foreclosure experts, including Assistant Attorney Valerie Singleton of the attorney general’s office; Michael Wigutow of the Nassau/Suffolk Law Services Committee, Inc.; and Carol Yopp of the Long Island Housing Partnership.

The speakers will cover topics such as the landmark National Mortgage Settlement, which might have significant benefits for borrowers facing foreclosure. The panelists will also talk about measures residents can take to avoid foreclosure on their homes.

Panelists are expected to respond to homeowners’ concerns during a question-and-answer period.

For more information, call Goosby’s office at 516-489-5000, ext. 4304.
