Hempstead Town’s animal shelter is now open for adoptions on Sundays.

The shelter, located at 3320 Beltagh Ave. in Wantagh, will be open for adoptions from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sundays, town officials said in a statement.

Thursday hours will also be extended to 8 p.m., officials said.

“We are confident that residents will greatly benefit from the Animal Shelter being open on Sundays,” shelter director Cindy Iacopella said in a statement.

The shelter’s new adoption schedule will be 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sundays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, and noon to 8 p.m. on Thursdays.

The shelter’s office hours will be 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Mondays, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursdays and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays.
