Hempstead Town’s animal shelter will participate in National Adopt A Shelter Dog Month by waiving adoption fees on Oct. 27.

The Wantagh shelter will also waive fees on spaying, neutering, rabies vaccinations and microchipping that day, town officials said.

The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the shelter, which is located at 3320 Beltagh Ave.

“We encourage residents to come down to the shelter and adopt a four-legged friend who will be a loyal companion for years to come,” said shelter director Cynthia Iacopella.

The event will also include a bake sale, and Halloween costumes will be available for purchase, officials said.
