Hempstead Town is accepting entries for the town’s 27th annual triathlon, scheduled for Sept. 10 in Town Park, Point Lookout.

The triathlon begins at 8 a.m. with a 3/4-mile ocean swim, followed by a 10-mile bike ride through the streets of Point Lookout and Lido Beach. The final leg is a 5-mile run to the finish line at Town Park.

“The Triathlon showcases the athletic skill and competitive spirit of each participant,” Supervisor Kate Murray said in a statement.

Applications are available at the town’s Department of Parks and Recreation, 516-292-9000, ext. 219.

Registration fees are $44 for town residents, $66 for nonresidents and $22 for resident senior citizen or military veteran; the registration deadline is Aug. 26.
