Hewlett Harbor mayor, two trustees to run unopposed

The Hewlett Harbor Village mayor and two trustees will run unopposed for new terms on June 19.

Village Mayor Mark Weiss will run for another two-year term under the Citizen Party banner. Incumbents Thomas Cohen and Kenneth Kornblau, both of whom also are from the Citizen Party, are also running for two-year terms. The positions on the five-member board of trustees are not paid.

Weiss, Cohen and Kornblau were the only candidates to submit petitions to run for their offices. The filing deadline was May 15.

Voting will be held from noon to 9 p.m. at Hewlett Harbor Village Hall, 449 Pepperidge Rd. in Hewlett. There are no propositions on the ballot.

Hewlett Harbor is a 0.8-square-mile community in the Town of Hempstead made up of 439 homes. It has 1,263 residents and a budget of $1.15 million for the 2012-13 fiscal year, which began on June 1. Business use is not permitted under village zoning regulations.
