Dalers without Wiener

Noticeably absent from the Farmingdale sideline in its 17-6 win over Pittsford on Friday was assistant coach Tracy Wiener, who started the Dalers' program and was the head coach until last season.

Wiener is a dean of students at Westbury High School and had to be in school. She was back with the team for yesterday's state Class A championship game.

"It's calm [without her]," jokingly said Farmingdale coach Shari Campbell, who served as an assistant under Wiener and was more vocal earlier today than she usually is during games.

"I was very sick to my stomach because we bounce so much off of each other throughout the course of a game that it was hard to turn and look and find nobody on the sideline. But Kate does a great job."

Wiener returned for yesterday's 20-10 victory over Bedford's Fox Lane.

BOYS LACROSSE

The rivalry will continue

"We're going to play them in non-league," Cherry said. "We have to."

Manhasset and Cold Spring Harbor met in the 'C' title game eight times since 2002, including the last seven seasons, with the Indians winning the last two. Before that, CSH won three straight.

"It's always a pleasure playing them," CSH coach Dennis Bonn said. "They have class coaches and class players."

Of losing possibly the last playoff meeting with Manhasset for the near future, Bonn said, "It hurts."

Manhasset has won six county Class C titles and Cold Spring Harbor has four.
