A new date has not been set for the contest, which is a qualifier for the 2013 Scripps National Spelling Bee in late May near Washington, D.C., the university said in a statement.. Organizers will contact participating students and schools this week with details.. Students in grades 4-8 from 103 schools across Long Island are to compete in the regional bee, which must be held by March 31 for the winner to go on to the national competition
