Hofstra student trying to get aviation project to take off

A Hofstra University student is trying to make sure Long Island is recognized for its unique contributions to the history of aviation. Adam Sackowitz, who's majoring in American studies at Hofstra, has started a letter-writing campaign asking local politicians to pass the Long Island History Aviation Act. It would authorize the secretary of the interior to conduct a study on the Island's aviation contributions.Sackowitz, 20, says nearly 15 percent of all American war planes were built right here on Long Island. The student, who also works as a park ranger at Theodore Roosevelt's Sagamore Hill home, says it's facts like these that need to get more recognition.
