Holbrook Assemb. Al Graf eyes two races
Assemb. Al Graf has interviewed with the Islip Republican screening committee to run against freshman Legis. Bill Lindsay in November. But in a surprise move, the Holbrook lawmaker has also screened to run for Islip district court judge.
Graf, a lawyer, interviewed for the slot now being filled by Will Ford, who was named temporarily by Democratic Suffolk Executive Steve Bellone. He filled a vacancy left when Republican District Court Judge Philip Goglas was elected as a county court judge last year.
The legislative seat, a two-year term, is expected to pay more than $100,000 next year. A district court judgeship, a six-year term, pays $156,200 annually. An Assembly salary is $79,500. Graf declined to say which contest he'd prefer, and said it will be up to the town committee to decide.-- Rick Brand
