In a sign that the warm weather is here to stay for a while, the man known as the "King of Hot Tubs" is busy again on the East End.
Joe Musnicki, founder and owner of Westhampton Beach-based Ocean Spray, said his crews are out and busy again installing hot tubs and saunas. This is a turnabout from last spring, when business was down about 25 percent.
"We're doing 15 percent to 20 percent more business" this spring than last, said Musnicki, a Bridgehampton native, who started the company "on a shoestring" 29 years ago. Musnicki is confident business will improve further. He has just opened a showroom in Melville.
One thing helping his business, he said, is "staycations."
"People are spending more time in their backyards" rather than traveling, Musnicki said. "Hot tubs are one of the items they're looking for."
