If you have a computer crash and lose your browser bookmarks, rebuilding your library of favorite websites will be frustrating, if not impossible. Before the unexpected happens, back up your bookmarks.

1. Nearly all Web browsers have an export program for bookmarks on the tool bar. On Internet Explorer: Go to File, select Import and Export, then Export a File, then Favorites and select where you want the HTML file saved. On Firefox: Go to Bookmarks, select Show All Bookmarks, then pick the drop menu Import and Backup and select Export Bookmarks to HTML. On Chrome: Go to the menu (the icon that looks like lines), select Bookmarks, then Bookmark manager, click the Organize drop menu and select Export bookmarks.

2. You can save the bookmark HTML file to an external hard drive, a USB flash (thumb) drive or to your desktop, then email it as an attachment to a mail account (e.g. Yahoo! or Gmail) available from any online computer.

3. There also are websites where you can upload your bookmarks and access them from any online computer. All require registration. Some are: favoritus.com, easybm.com, saveyourlinks.com and ikeepbookmarks.com.
