As of March 1, Google aggregated data from all of its sites to customize advertising at its users. If you prefer not to be tracked on Google or YouTube (which is owned by Google) or by other companies, there are some steps you can take.

1. Log into your Google account, then go to google.com/history. If there is a history of sites you've visited, clear it by using the link "Remove all Web History." To pause Google from tracking you in the future, click the "No thanks" button. Make sure you do this on all browsers you use.

2. Stay logged into your Google account and go to youtube.com/ my_history. You'll find the videos you've viewed listed. Click "Clear all viewing history," then click "Pause viewing history." On the left, click Search History, and clear and pause your search history. Do this on all browsers you use.

3. On all browsers you use, go to aboutads .info/choices/#optout-all. This site will scan your browser and tell you which of its 89 participating companies have tracking cookies in place. Go to the bottom of the page and click "Choose all companies" to remove cookies and opt-out of tracking from all.
