The Huntington chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People will announce the winners of five $1,000 college scholarships at an awards luncheon on Saturday.

The students are expected June graduates from the town’s various high schools. The students were selected based on academic accomplishments, financial need and participation in extracurricular activities at school and in the community.

The Huntington chapter is sponsoring four of the scholarships, and the Walter R. Moore Memorial Scholarship Committee is sponsoring the other award.

The keynote speaker will be Kevin D. Jordan, dean of academic support services at Dowling College.

The event is from noon to 3 p.m. at the 56th Fighter Group Restaurant, 7160 Republic Airport, Route 110, Gate 1, in East Farmingdale. There is a $65 donation.
