The Huntington Town Board has approved $68,391.99 more for the cost of repairs to the Long Island Rail Road station south parking garage.

The work has been completed, but the additional amount was needed because the damage to the top level was greater than originally expected, according to town spokesman A.J. Carter.

Last year, the town board approved a $962,000 contract with Structural Preservation Systems LLC of Long Island City to begin fixing the town-owned, three-decades-old structure, the first part of a multiphase renovation project. The work was finished this summer.

The additional money cost came from two change order requests: one for $10,866.34, the other for $57,525.65.
