Huntington business incubator holds first program to aid small businesses

Huntington’s new business incubator recently held its first event, which invited entrepreneurs to a five-part seminar.
The Excellence in Entrepreneurship program started May 13 and will have its last session Tuesday.
Topics covered in the sessions included performing a self-assessment of strengths and weaknesses; financing a business; how to write a business plan; organizational structure; financial reporting; and the keys to success.
Supervisor Frank Petrone said, in a statement, that 31 people, the maximum allowed, signed up for the program. He told the participants on Monday to look for other seminars and programs that are being planned for the incubator at 1268 New York Ave.
"This is a golden opportunity for people looking to start a business or to improve an existing one to receive invaluable guidance from experts, at no cost," Petrone in a statement about the five-part program.
The program was co-sponsored by the town, the Small Business Development Center at Farmingdale State College, the Huntington Township Chamber of Commerce and Citi Community Development.
