A man suffered head injuries after being hit by a truck as he crossed a major roadway in Huntington Station Tuesday night, Suffolk police said.

The 63-year-old victim, whose name was not released, was flown to Stony Brook University Hospital, where detectives waited for word of the seriousness of his injuries, said Det. Sgt. James Scimone of the Second Precinct.

He was struck just before 10 p.m. by a GMC truck turning left from southbound Route 110 onto eastbound Jericho Turnpike, Scimone said. The driver stayed at the scene, he said.

Jericho Turnpike remained shut down in both directions at 12:30 a.m. Wednesday as detectives gathered information at the scene, police said.
