Huntington Town helps small businesses deal with Sandy

Huntington Town board member Mark Mayoka is inviting small-business owners and residents to a forum intended to help small businesses in the town recover from superstorm Sandy. Mayoka will moderate a program, Small Business Strategies for Recovery from Hurricane Sandy, Wednesday at Town Hall.
“Small-business survival strategies have never been more important after Sandy,” Mayoka said. “We want to reach out and do what we can to offer help to small businesses. For instance, there is a business part of FEMA that helps with the loss of revenue. We want to help lead small businesses in the right direction.”
He will be joined at the Huntington Small Business Resource and Recovery Center by a panel of business experts who will provide advice and direction to help those impacted by Sandy. Attendees will be encouraged to share stories, ideas and strategies.
In addition, donations of nonperishable food, cleaning supplies, work gloves, and batteries will be collected for Sandy victims.
Registration and networking begins at 8:30 a.m., with the program set to run from 9 to 10:30 a.m. There is no charge.
Town Hall is at 100 Main St.
