Registration is open for the first Huntington Triathlon, which has been scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 25.

The event will consist of a 750-meter swim at Crab Meadow Beach in Northport, a 9.8-mile bike ride through the Town of Huntington and a 3.3-mile run through Northport, finishing at Crab Meadow Beach.

The registration fee is $85 until Wednesday, when it will go up to $95. On Aug. 1, registration will go up to $105. Town residents will receive a $5 discount. There is a limit of 600 participants.

A portion of proceeds will benefit Northport High School’s Students for 60,000 and the East Northport/Northport Food Pantry.

“I think this is going to be a great event with lots of community involvement,” said Victoria Belegrinos of Vicobe Productions, the organizer of the event.

Youth events for beginning and intermediate runners and swimmers will be held on Saturday, Sept. 24 . The entry fee, now $25, will increase to $35 Aug. 1.

Event organizers are also looking for volunteers.
