Hur has 3 goals as Ward Melville girls stay unbeaten

Yuna Hur scored two of her three goals in the second half Monday as Ward Melville stayed undefeated in Division I girls lacrosse with an 11-9 win over Northport. Hur's second goal with 6:14 left gave the Patriots (6-0) a 10-9 lead. Ally Tilley had three goals and an assist and Emma Jehle made all eight of her saves in the second half for the Patriots.

Sachem East 20, Smithtown West 18: Corinne Donohue scored with five seconds left in the first overtime to put Sachem East (6-1) ahead in a Division I double-overtime game. Katie Trombetta had a career-high nine goals in the win.

Sachem North 9, Lindenhurst 8: Sam Brenkert scored the winner for Sachem North (4-4, Division I) with 5:27 left in the second on a pass from Nicole Dale (three goals, three assists). Brooke Basso tied the score at 8 for Sachem North with 6:26 left in the second, also on a pass from Dale.

Island Trees 18, Carle Place 13: Freshman Natalie Sulmonte had career highs in goals (eight) and assists (five) to lift Island Trees (1-2) in Nassau Conference 4C. Emily Lucas had four goals and an assist in the win.

BOYS LACROSSE

Wheatley-Carle Place 6, Malverne-East Rockaway 4: Jim Baxter scored off a feed from Mike Romano with 4:30 left to give Wheatley-Carle Place (7-1) a 5-4 lead in non-league. Bryan Dennis won 11 of 14 faceoffs in the win.
