The Nassau County Industrial Development Agency will hold a public hearing today about an application to buy the Westbury Bristal Assisted Living Facility and extend its PILOT (payment in lieu of taxes) agreement an additional 10 years.
The facility was granted a PILOT agreement in 1999, and it was extended in 2005, Westbury Mayor Peter Cavallaro said.
The idea of a second extension has stoked anger among some community residents and lawmakers. About a hundred gathered last week at an information session in the village. Many vowed to register their opposition at today’s public hearing at Village Hall, 235 Lincoln Place, in Westbury. A court stenographer will record comments and take written ones, too.
The IDA’s next meeting will be Monday, Nov. 26 at 5 p.m. at the Nassau County Legislative Building in Mineola.
