Michaud: Idea could ease bitter education fight

Here's an idea that might suck some of the bitterness out of the education-reform debate: teacher-powered schools.
I first read about this today, but I've been hearing from teachers for years that they are weary of reform imposed from above. Nobody knows what goes on in the classroom like the teacher, or so goes the argument. I wouldn't argue with that.
The website TeacherPowered.org claims that there are 60 schools in 15 states in which teacher teams have secured the authority to design and run their own schools.
