The Village of Manorhaven will host a presentation on identity theft and how to prevent it by attorney Dorothy O. Nese Thursday at 7 p.m. at Village Hall on Manorhaven Boulevard. The event is free and open to the public.

The briefing is designed to educate people on how to protect and defend themselves against identity theft. It will cover what constitutes identity theft under state and federal law, expose different tactics used by identity thieves and provide resources to minimize the risk of becoming a victim.

“It’s something that is a good opportunity for the public to learn about because this particular problem is pervasive in our society,” said Jonathan Fielding, village clerk-treasurer of Manorhaven.

The presentation will be followed by the regular monthly meeting at 8 p.m.
