If you hate the snow, this E. Hampton home's for you
A n East Hampton house, on the market for $35 million, comes with something that winter-haters will love: snow-melting technology on the driveway, entrances and paths.
The 17,000-square-foot home is on five acres and takes in views of the surrounding 45-acre agricultural reserve.
"There is a great deal of privacy," says John Healey, agent at Town & Country Real Estate, who is marketing the house. "It has a long, private driveway -- you don't have a neighbor bearing down on you."
The 10-bedroom, 131/2-bath home also comes with a pool and pool house, sunken tennis court and basketball court.
CHIC BEACH HOUSE A house in Quogue, now on the market for $4.595 million, went through major renovations in 2007, when the owners called upon Peter Curto of Curto and Curto Builders to create an 8,154-square-foot home with a chic beach-house feel. "It's a work of art," says Lynn November, listing agent with Douglas Elliman Real Estate.
Detailed woodwork, from the foyer and grand staircase to the arched doorways and custom built-ins, is featured throughout the house. Wide plank floors and exposed ceiling beams are found in the family room, and the living room boasts a coffered ceiling.
There are six bedrooms, seven bathrooms and one half-bath. A junior master suite on the main level comes with a private entrance. The second-floor en suite master bedroom has a fireplace -- one of three in the home -- and access to a deck.
The 1.3-acre gated parcel is "exquisitely landscaped," says November, and includes a heated saltwater in-ground pool and hot tub. French doors off the living room, den and eat-in kitchen lead to a brick patio that runs along the perimeter of the pool area. Other features include a formal dining room with adjoining butler's pantry, a 10-seat home theater and an attached, three-car garage.
