Four years after hitting bottom, Indiana is making noise in the NCAA Tournament.

Will Sheehey made a 15-footer with 12.7 seconds left after a shot was blocked right to him, and No. 4 seed Indiana beat No. 12 seed Virginia Commonwealth, 63-61, in the third round of the South Regional Saturday in Portland, Ore.

Rob Brandenberg got a great look at a potential winning three-pointer but it rimmed off at the buzzer, ending Shaka Smart's bid to coach the Rams to another surprising March run. "I don't get over games like this. I didn't get over the Butler game last year," Smart said. "You've just got to move on. What's over is over."

Indiana advanced to the round of 16 for the first time in a decade and just four years after Tom Crean inherited a decimated program. Indiana trailed by as many as nine in the second half and was down 59-53 with six minutes left before closing with a 10-2 run.

Christian Watford led Indiana (27-8) with 16 points and Cody Zeller added 14, including his first field goal since midway through the first half with 2:55 left. Victor Oladipo's driving three-point play with 46.5 seconds left tied the score at 61.

Then it was time for Sheehey's big shot. After Bradford Burgess, who led VCU (29-7) with 15 points, missed a pair of free throws, Oladipo grabbed the rebound and raced the length of the court. He was blocked by Darius Theus, but the loose ball bounced right to Sheehey, who knocked down the open shot for his only points of the second half.

"It's tough, man. That's how life works. You think you deserve it, you work so hard for it. Then it's over," Burgess said. "We just let it slip away in the end. They did a good job and they're a great team and they're moving on and we're not."

Indiana will face top-seeded Kentucky in the Sweet 16.

Kentucky 87, Iowa State 71: Marquis Teague had 24 points, Doron Lamb added 16 points and Anthony Davis had 15 points and 12 rebounds as Kentucky (34-2) rolled in Lexington, Ky. No. 8 seed Iowa State finished 23-11.

Baylor 80, Colorado 63: Brady Heslip hit nine three-pointers and scored 27 points to lift No. 3 seed Baylor (29-7) over No. 11 seed Colorado (24-12) in Albuquerque, N.M. Heslip, a transfer from Boston College who grew up in Canada, hit a pair of threes in a late 14-0 run. The Bears play the winner of today's Xavier-Lehigh game. -- AP
