Representatives of the state Department of Financial Services will be in Copiague Wednesday to offer assistance to those with insurance issues stemming from superstorm Sandy.

The agency will be at the Tanner Park Senior Center from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. to help homeowners, renters and business owners.

Department representatives will help citizens contact their insurers if they have been unable to do so and answer questions about insurance coverage.

Those who are unable to go to the center are encouraged to call the department’s storm hotline at 800-339-1759, staffed from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday, and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Insurance information is also available on the department’s website, dfs.ny.gov.
