Southold will waive its town dumping fees and begin a residential curbside pickup for debris from Tropical Storm Irene.

Residents are asked to place branches, leaves and twigs in neat piles by the curb for pickup by the town’s Highway Department. Cleanup could take weeks, according to Supervisor Scott Russell.

“It’s a substantial cleanup,” he said.

The dumping fee will be waived for residents taking storm debris to the landfill.
