Island Trees softball player Kim Basile

Kim Basile, a catcher on the Island Trees High School softball team, was born without a left hand. She takes her glove off after each pitch, removes the ball, and throws it back. The senior captain is a key hitter, has been impressive defensively and will continue playing softball next year at Farmingdale State College.
