The Islip Republican Committee plans to announce its candidates tonight for the offices of town supervisor, board members, clerk and tax receiver.

“They are new fresh people who want to be involved in politics,” said Frank Tantone, the committee’s chairman. “We want to get them out and get them known to the public.”

Tantone said the candidates, who were “screened and selected” by the Republican committee, will bring “fiscal responsibility” and “transparency, honesty, and integrity” to the offices they seek.

The announcement will be made at 6:30 p.m. in the Islip Republican Committee’s headquarters, 39 Third Ave., Bay Shore.

“Anyone who is interested in supporting our candiates” is welcome to attend the event, Tantone said.

Candidates will be formally nominated by the vote of committee members at the party convention in May.
