Islip is tweeting away

The Town of Islip is starting a Twitter account to keep residents updated on key events and announcements.

“As well as announcements, we hope to expand our Twitter platform in a way that allows members of our community to interact with Town Hall,” Supervisor Phil Nolan said in a statement.

The account name is: @TownofIslip.

Islip joins a smattering of Long Island municipalities — including North Hempstead and Babylon towns and the villages of Asharoken and Port Jefferson — that have Twitter accounts.
