Islip Town is encouraging residents to sign up for its free E-Alert system to receive information during hurricanes and other emergencies.
The E-Alert system can instantly send information to subscribers via email and/or text message. Even if the town’s communications network goes down in an emergency, the E-Alerts can be sent from off-site servers, according to town officials.
“The E-Alert system has evolved into a necessary tool for all Islip residents,” Councilman Anthony Senft, liaison to the Emergency Management Office, said in a release. “Having a direct line to Town announcements in an emergency situation can be critical.”
Go to the town’s website at www.townofislip-ny.gov to sign up and to get more information.
