Islip's Maddie Fedderson pitches perfect game
Maddie Fedderson pitched a five-inning perfect game as Islip topped Glenn, 12-0, Friday in Suffolk League IV softball.
The sophomore struck out four.
"My curve and screwball were working," Fedderson said. "There were a few tough pop-ups, but everyone made great plays and helped me out."
Second baseman Julianna Williams made an over-the-shoulder catch in the fourth inning, Islip coach Dennis McSweeney said.
Taylor Larson went 3-for-4 with four RBIs for the Buccaneers (11-2).
Westbury 14, Elmont 0: Keily Sanchez pitched a no-hitter with no walks and four strikeouts to lead Westbury (4-9) in Nassau AA-II. The senior lost her bid for a perfect game on an error in the third inning. Sanchez and Anastasia Giddens-Merrit each scored three runs for the Green Dragons (4-9).
