Some Long Islanders dug themselves out of more than two-and-a-half feet of snow on Monday, according to the National Weather Service.

Central Islip was pummelled with 31 inches of snow, the weather service announced in its updated snow totals late Monday. First responders reported 30 inches, or two-and-a-half feet, in East Islip while the weather service recorded 29.1 inches at its official measuring site in Islip. If the agency’s measurement is made official following a review, this blizzard storm would shatter the previous record in Islip, 27.8 inches, set in 2013. The Suffolk community with the least snow was Greenlawn at 11.3 inches.

Overall, Nassau faired slightly better than Suffolk. North Merrick received the most at 25.4 inches, East Massapequa received 24.5 inches and Bethpage got 24.4. The community of Jericho fared the best with 15.2 inches.
