One resolution on Tuesday’s Islip Town board agenda was a clarification of a bid award approved earlier and worth $215,248.

When the town board approved Van Bortel Ford in Westchester as the lowest responsible bidder to provide eight new Ford Explorers to Long Island MacArthur Airport in July, the resolution didn’t mention that each 2013 Explorer would cost the town $26,906.

The eight new sports utility vehicles will replace eight older Explorers ranging from model year 1999 to 2004, most of which had more than 100,000 miles on them, interim airport commissioner Terry Hennessey said last month.

Hennessey clarified Tuesday that two of the Explorers will be paid for by town funds. Five will be paid for through the airport’s passenger facility charge, a fee of $4.50 per passenger boarding at MacArthur that the airline carriers give back to the airport for improvements, and one will be paid for by a law enforcement grant through the Suffolk County district attorney’s office.
