The Islip Town Board will convene Friday for a special meeting to vote on whether to grant a permit for a 5K race in Brentwood.

If approved, the race, organized by the Brentwood Rotary Club, would take place at 5 p.m. Monday at Northeast Elementary School.

The town board must vote on events that require road closures, a town spokesman said. The route for Monday’s run would require closing several roads, including parts of Fulton, Prospect and Eastern avenues.

The town board’s next regularly scheduled meeting is Tuesday, the day after the race.

The board is scheduled to meet at 11 a.m. Friday in the town board room in Town Hall, 655 Main St., Islip.
