Islip residents will be able to file their property taxes online next year, after the town board last week approved entering an agreement with MuniTrax of Carle Place, which will provide the service at no cost to the town.
As with other municipalities that use online filing, there will be a fee to residents who choose to file electronically, town officials said. The rate has yet to be determined for Islip.
Separately, the town has launched its “Islip Dashboard,” an online resource for the public and local businesses. It is accessible via the town’s home page — townofislip-ny.gov — and can be used to research a variety of information on a specific property.
By entering a street address, site users can find information on street-sweeping schedules, garbage removal, nearby schools and libraries. The Web page also contains links to download some of the town’s key forms and permit applications.
